A Better Bite Community Kitchen has expanded its operations to The Convent, Sydney's newest arts & culture centre.
Food you can feel good about
Over the past four months, we have been busy preparing an average of 600 meals each week for seniors and community members in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thankfully, our new facility at The Convent (170 George Street, Sydney) became operational just days before the State of Emergency was declared in Nova Scotia.
Our expansion provides our kitchen staff with a larger, more modern facility to better serve our New Dawn Meals on Wheels clients — and prepare meals for other community organizations such as Cape Breton Cancer Centre, Cornerstone Group Home, Glace Bay Meals on Wheels, Community Homeless Shelter, and Island Housing Authority Tenants.
Since March 2020, A Better Bite has prepared a total of 7,442 meals for these organizations!
A Better Bite Cafe
This expansion will also result in the opening of A Better Bite Cafe later this month. The Cafe will provide a bright new meetup space for community members, tenants, staff, and visitors to enjoy a nutritious meal and a freshly brewed beverage in the historic North End of Sydney.
