Meet Good Food Bus Assistant Coordinator, Siobhan Schreinert

As Assistant Program Coordinator, Siobhan will be responsible for organizing markets, volunteer recruitment, and of course, driving the Good Food Bus!

Siobhan Schreinert is a third-year student in the Bachelor of Arts Community Studies program at Cape Breton University.

Moving to Cape Breton Island from hometown Hanover, Ontario, Siobhan discovered a community-centred environment and fun atmosphere that she wanted to be a part of.

“By working for the Good Food Bus, I will be following my passion and doing my part to help create food security within Cape Breton,” says Siobhan. “I look forward to meeting the great people in Cape Breton and doing my part to ensure we [The Good Food Bus] are meeting the needs of the community in terms of affordable, fresh fruits and vegetables.”

Siobhan looks forward to working with the social enterprise — the newest non-profit venture of the A Better Bite Community Kitchen division of New Dawn Enterprises — throughout the summer while also enjoying the beauty of Cape Breton. During her 8-week term, Siobhan hopes to become more involved in the community and identify unique strategies to address food insecurity for the island.
